Jetpacks! is looking for an experienced SRE – Observability Consultant to join our LatAm team and support a partner focused on delivering modern, reliable software systems across diverse industries. This role is ideal for someone with deep expertise in OpenTelemetry, platform engineering, and cloud-native observability, who can design and implement scalable telemetry strategies while guiding clients through their observability journey.

Role Responsibilities

OpenTelemetry & Observability

  • Design and implement end-to-end OpenTelemetry solutions across diverse tech stacks.
  • Configure and deploy OpenTelemetry Collectors for efficient data collection, sampling, processing, and routing.
  • Build telemetry pipelines for metrics, traces, and logs in microservices environments.
  • Optimize collector configurations for performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.

Platform Engineering & Infrastructure

  • Enhance existing infrastructure with integrated observability solutions.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Terraform, Pulumi, CloudFormation, etc.
  • Architect and maintain Kubernetes clusters with complete monitoring and logging.
  • Build CI/CD pipelines that include observability, automation, and testing.

Site Reliability Engineering (SRE)

  • Define and maintain SLIs, SLOs, and SLAs.
  • Implement error budgets, toil reduction strategies, and capacity planning.
  • Support incident response, on-call procedures, and post-mortem processes.

Cloud & DevOps Engineering

  • Deploy and manage observability infrastructure in AWS, GCP, and Azure.
  • Establish governance, compliance, and security practices for telemetry data.
  • Automate agent evaluations in CI/CD pipelines and observability backends.
How will you be supported

You'll be onboarded to the tech team organization. You will be part of a team and will communicate with them via Slack and Google Meet. Periodic 1-on-1 meetings will be held to ensure you are successful and have a productive and enjoyable experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Core Observability & OpenTelemetry

  • 3–5 years in observability, monitoring, or distributed systems.
  • Hands-on experience with the OpenTelemetry ecosystem (SDKs, APIs, specifications).
  • Proficiency in configuring OpenTelemetry Collectors, processors, exporters, and receivers.
  • Strong understanding of telemetry data models and instrumentation best practices.

Platform Engineering & DevOps

  • 5+ years in Platform Engineering or DevOps with strong SRE alignment.
  • Expertise in IaC tools (Terraform, Pulumi, CloudFormation, CDK).
  • Solid experience with CI/CD platforms (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, ArgoCD).

Cloud & Infrastructure

  • Experience with major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Proficiency with container technologies (Docker, Podman) and registries.
  • Understanding of networking, load balancing, security, and distributed systems.

Site Reliability Engineering

  • Experience implementing SRE practices like error budgets and toil management.
  • Skilled in incident management, on-call processes, and post-mortem facilitation.
  • Experience with performance tuning, capacity planning, and scalability design.

Programming & Automation

  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages (Go, Python, Java, Node.js, Rust).
  • Strong scripting skills (Bash, Python, PowerShell).
  • Knowledge of engineering best practices and testing methodologies.
  • Advanced English level.
